Stay in tune and stay connected with Bluetooth Active Headphones S9. Weighing barely an ounce, this lightweight and discreet headset lets you wirelessly control your music and your calls using the integrated touch controls on the sides of the headband. The behind-the-head wearing style is both comfortable and stylish. So take your music with you and leave the tangle of wires behind with S9, Motorola's newest Bluetooth stereo headphones. Motorola Bluetooth Active Headphones S9 integrate wireless mobile music and calls with an unmatched lightweight design. Behind-the-head wearing style, preferred for top comfort and stability, combines music and call selection from the headphones. The S9 connects to any Bluetooth compatible stereo-enabled music handset or to any iPod (with Bluetooth adapter - sold separately) providing access to the entire music library for a full wireless music experience.

Summary: Great Idea
Comment: Awesome product. If you are a workout fiend who enjoys doing more than just wandering on the treadmill or doing 4X8 bicep curls then you've probably more than once had your headphones and ipod (etc) give you fits whilst doing box jumps, clean, snatch, KBs, or any other fitness exercise. No more for me. I had given up for the last six months after having an ipod stolen twice in one month. When I got my new DROID phone (shameless plug for great phone) I figured I would try something new. Awesome. I can put my phone in the corner of the gym, but not somewhere where it will get stolen (duh) and get my Crossfit etc. on. As long as you don't wander too far you can rock out and do some real work with out having to listen to the Britney spears or Elvis Pressley that the gym staff seems to think is great for working out. I can say the only problem I have is my huge head 7 3/4 is pretty big hat and it streches these things. Motorola needs to suck it up and make two sizes, maybe M and F. In the mean time just focus that discomfort to your workout. If youare comfortable working out you aren't working out anyways.

Summary: Works great with my IPOD
Comment: I purchased the S9 because I was frustrated with the wire to my IPOD headphones getting caught on things, pulled out of the unit, earplugs jerked out of my ears etc. etc...anyone who uses their IPOD for work-outs or most any other activity that doesn't consist of just sitting understands what I mean. So far I have nothing but good to say about the S9. The quality of construction and sound are both top-notch. I use them with the Scosche IUBTT/IUBTTR Bluetooth Transmitter attached to an IPOD classic. I would buy both products again. I paid around 40 bucks for the S9 and it was money well spent.

Summary: Great Idea, but no support!
Comment: I ordered the S9 primarily out of curiosity. I prefer my blackberry be paired with an earpiece that uses a aaa battery since when I need it, I don't have time to wait on a charge. When I got the set, I was a little skeptical about the audio quality, but after changing the earbuds, I was amazed at the sound that came out! The bass was great and the rest of the range was acceptable or better.

Now, The bad!!!
The second day I had the set, I literally lost one of the ear buds when I turned my head. Gone! For good! I looked for and found the spares that came with the S9, and wouldn't you know, the only spares were of the size that didn't work for me! They sound great if I have my fingers stuck on the ends holding them positioned the right way in my ears, but I can hold a phone to my head with less effort!

To make matters worse, no replacements are available! Not from Motorola! I'm thinking about trying the aftermarket replacements available on Amazon here, but I have a suspicion that they are of the size that I DON'T need! Motorola has a great thing going wiht the S9, but it has a great thing stopping without the replacement parts to complete what is obviously a bad attachment design for the ear buds! I've talked with many people that have used the S9, and everyone I talked to uses the larger ear buds, and all of them are looking for replacements!

Summary: Light, comfortable, good sound
Comment: I got tired of dangling cords while exercising, and decided to try a bluetooth stereo headset for my iPhone. The only imperfection is that the iPhone doesn't yet support the AVRCP profile, which means that the S9's track forward and back buttons don't function. The S9 handles its own volume; the call and play/pause button work fine as part of the A2DP profile which iPhone 3.0 supports. Since I like to listen to my eclectic iTunes library on random shuffle anyway, this has rarely been an issue for me. If you're a relentless track skipper, obviously it could be a problem, and make sure your device supports AVRCP before buying. (And of course A2DP, without which the entire headset would be pretty pointless!)

The headset is comfortable, and the sound is good. From the front and even side the small black earbuds and the black arch over the ears are very nearly invisible. I've asked people on the other end about the sound, and also called my home answering machine to listen to the recording; the microphone seems to work quite well.

This is not a noise canceling or sound isolating headphone, though! I consider it an advantage that I can exchange casual words with someone in the store or gym without having to remove the headset. But if you want to drown everything out with your music, this isn't likely the headset for you.

It charges with a mini-USB connector, which are becoming readily available; so it shouldn't be an issue to find something to recharge in the car, or to have a separate charger for travel. (In fact my Tom Tom Car Kit uses a mini-USB and there should be no reason I couldn't simply plug that into the S9 if I needed to charge it.) I haven't experimented to see how long the charge will hold, but I've used it continuously "all morning" or "all afternoon" without a problem. The brochure says 6 hours stereo listening time; I'm sure I've at least come really close to that without having any issues.

Summary: headphones
Comment: I love the fit and ability to change songs, volume on the headset, but.... it drops signal from the bluetooth adapter easily (I use it with a IPOD Nano) and its a hassle to keep reconnecting it while working out. I had a logitech that had a designated adapter which worked better but the headset style was not desirable. It works good. Sounds great. Maybe I just need to get better at using it.
